People Reaching People for Christ

 A Brief History

Canton Baptist Church has been serving the community since 1855. Reorganization took

place in 1930, when we reopened the old Community Church building that was

obtained from the Methodist and Presbyterians, who had abandoned the building and boarded

up the doors and windows.  In 1998 we voted to build a new facility.  Our congregation

had grown from 67 in 1994 to more than 200 in 1998, and we are still going strong today.

New Testament Church

We are a New Testament Church committed to worshiping and serving Jesus Christ. As a

Southern Baptist Church, we join with like minded Christians in spreading the gospel to the world.

Our Core Values

Our slogan "Teaching the Word, Doing the Work: People Reaching People for Christ" is more

than just a catchy phrase. We hope that it gives you insight into just who we are. Christ

reached out to people of all ages, ethnicities and backgrounds, and at our church we desire to

do the same. That is why you will discover at Canton Baptist Church ministries geared

to various life stages and needs. We have a place for everyone to study the Bible, fellowship

together, and minister to others through numerous service opportunities.
